NHED regularly publishes requests for applications for state and federally funded grants and programs. This page will be updated with available RFAs as they become available. Each RFA will have the date it was released, the due date for application return, and program contact information. Associated documents will be posted within each RFA.

FY25

Robotics Education Development Grants Request for Applications 2023-2025

The New Hampshire Department of Education will issue competitive grants for year two of the grant cycle for NH public and public charter schools that did not receive funding in year one and meet eligibility requirements for financing the establishment of a robotics team and its participation in competitive events. Responses to this request for applications received by the deadline will be scored by independent peer reviewers. The primary purpose of these grants is to motivate public and charter school students to pursue educational and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, while building critical life and work-related skills.

Integrated Education and Training (IET) Development Project RFA

Application

The Bureau of Adult Education will issue competitive grants to eligible adult education programs to support designing high-quality, effective and sustainable integrated education and training programs as defined under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. Integrated education and training is a service approach that combines adult education and literacy activities with workforce preparation and occupational skills training for a specific occupation or occupational cluster.

Promising Futures for NH Grant

Application Package

NHED Responses to Applicant Inquiries

This grant will fund LEAs to implement substance misuse strategies, as well as other universal prevention strategies and interventions, for grades K-12.  Each grantee will also explore preliminary implementation or expand existing implementation of either New Hampshire's Multi-Tiered System of Supports for Behavioral Health and Wellness (MTSS-B) or the Pyramid Model Framework (PMF).  LEAs can request up to $25,000 for school year 2024-2025.

FY24

Career and Technical Education Transportation Incentive Grants

The New Hampshire legislature in June 2023 appropriated $4 million for the current biennium to the New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED), to develop a career and technical education (CTE) incentive grant to encourage transportation of students from sending high school regional CTE programs to receiving CTE programs. Awards made under this grant program shall be on a competitive basis based on criteria established by the department.

Leaning Into Literacy II Resource Grant

Grant Awards

This grant will allow NH public and public charter schools to receive funding for Science of Reading evidence-based, high-quality literacy curriculum to support students in K-6. ARP EANS funds this competitive grant, and all GEER II program assurances are applied. The estimated budget for each proposal is $5,000 to $25,000. Funds must be properly obligated by September 30, 2024.

Expanded Adult Education Services Request for Application 2024

The New Hampshire Department of Education, Bureau of Adult Education is seeking proposals from eligible Adult Education & Literacy Programs for expanding adult education services in order to reduce existing waiting list or to expand services for students needing additional instructional hours in order to meet post-testing requirements before the end of the program year. The total amount of funding available is $300,000. There is no maximum or minimum amount, but all funding must be expended by June 30, 2024.

High School Equivalency Test Center Request for Applications 2024

The New Hampshire Department of Education, Bureau of Adult Education will issue discretionary grants to eligible high school equivalency testing centers for equipment, furniture, IT and training support. The purpose of this funding is to expand the capacity of existing high school equivalency test centers including the transition from paper-based testing to computer-based testing, adding the GED as a test option or to expand current testing seat capacity. The total amount of funding available is $35,000. There is no maximum or no minimum request amount. Responses to this request for applications will be scored on a rolling basis by independent peer reviewers. Awards must be expended by June 30, 2024.

Farm to School (F2S) School Gardens Grant Request for Application (RFA): SY2024-2025

The New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED) will issue competitive grants to Eligible NH School Food Authorities (SFA) and Reporting Authorities (RA) for financing the implementation and/or expansion of school gardens and increased Farm to School efforts. Responses to this request for applications received by the deadline will be scored by independent peer reviewers. These funds are intended to assist SFAs/RAs interested in utilizing school gardens to improve school food service operations in a variety of ways. Eligible applicants are not required to have existing school garden(s) to submit a proposal.

Stronger Connections Grant

The New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED) will issue competitive grants to NH public and public charter LEAs to support safe learning environments. Research consistently shows that safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments are associated with improved academic achievement and emotional well-being of students, as well as with reductions in disciplinary actions. The maximum amount that can be requested is $100,000 per LEA school building considered in the application. There is no minimum amount.

Released Date: June 15, 2023
Due Date: Friday, August 11, 2023, 4:00 PM.  Applications that are received past the due date will be contingent upon the availability of funds. Priority will be given to those applications received by the deadline.

Pre-Engineering K-12 Request for Applications

The Bureau of Career Development (BCD) at the New Hampshire Department of Education will issue discretionary grants to local education agencies (LEAs) and public charter schools to purchase equipment, supplies, or other curriculum materials such as: textbooks and software licenses, or for career development activities, such as student trips to NH businesses and postsecondary level programs. Such costs must support the absolute priority of this grant funding opportunity, which is to expand pre-engineering (including elements such as, but not limited to: design thinking, computer science, robotics, mechatronics, and career pathway planning) for elementary, middle, or high school students.

Leaning into Literacy Resource Grant

Non-Public School Education Recovery Assistance Program (ARP EANS+)

The NH Department of Education will issue competitive grants to NH non-profit non-public schools to address the educational, social, emotional, and mental health impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Responses to this request for applications received by the deadline will be scored by independent peer reviewers. The primary purpose of this assistance is to support non-public schools in addressing the academic disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the social, emotional, and mental well-being of their students.

The New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED) will issue competitive grants to New Hampshire public and public chartered schools for funding the establishment of after school, before school, or summer enrichment programming opportunities for students in K-12 for the 2022-2023 school year and 2023 summer. Responses to this Request for Applications received by the deadline will be scored by independent peer reviewers. The primary purpose of these grants is to provide students in K-12 with the opportunity to participate in highly engaging, enrichment programming that supports students’ social, emotional, and academic needs in a before, after or summer school setting.

After Dark Pilot Program Grant

The New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED) is issuing a request for applications to pilot an after-school hours alternative diploma program called After Dark, which leads to high school completion through the Adult Education Program and includes enrollment in a Career and Technical Education Program. This pilot program will be conducted during the 2023-2024 school year with planning to occur during the spring and summer of 2023.
