In response to the award, Commissioner Virginia Barry said, “This award will provide funds to those schools in NH communities that face significant challenges. We will dedicate these resources to support the efforts of educators, parents, and districts in preparing their students for future success.”
Through a competitive grant process, the NHDOE will award sub-grants to local schools that demonstrate the greatest need and strongest commitment to provide adequate resources in order to substantially raise the achievement of students in their low-performing schools. Since the NHDOE has received an ESEA Flexibility Waiver, this grant applies to schools that have been selected as Title I Priority Schools that have not previously received SIG funds.
The application process for the SIG grant is as follows:
|May 5, 2014||
LEA intent to apply and planning grant request due to NHDOE
|May 9, 2014||NHDOE reviews and approves the planning grants|
|June 2, 2014||Complete LEA application due to the NHDOE|
|June 2- June 13, 2014||Three step application review|
|July 1, 2014||LEA grants awarded by the NHDOE|
