Family-School Partnerships in Special Education in Action
“It takes a village….” On February 20, 2014 the village came to the Pelham Elementary School when approximately 100 people attended the “Spotlight on Special Education in Pelham” event. The evening was the first collaboration of the newly formed Pelham Special Education Parent Focus Group and the Pelham Special Education Department. The purpose of the evening was to give the community an overview of the special education department in each building as well as a description of the services and programs based in each school. District staff, parents, students and community members all joined in to make the evening a huge success. From donating resources to raffle items, providing food to making finger painted tablecloths, everyone helped make an evening that would connect families and strengthen school bonds. Congratulations on a job well done!
