To receive grant funding from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for HIV prevention education, the NH Department of Education is required to have a committee review HIV curriculum materials before distributing them to insure they meet the CDC materials review criteria.
Materials reviewed are intended as resources for adult educators or for those adults preparing to become educators and should be used at the discretion of the educator. The NH Department of Education and the HIV Materials Review Committee members are not endorsing or recommending the use of any reviewed classroom materials without additional local review for appropriateness of their use for any purpose for or for use with any particular grade or age audience.
The HIV Materials Review Committee does not have the authority to determine or recommend what should be used or should not used in schools or districts. Material is not reviewed for educational merit; it is not reviewed for effectiveness, or for use with any particular grade or age audience, or for suitability for classroom use. These materials are reviewed for compliance with CDC guidelines.
