Training Guidelines

General Guidelines - Requests for Training

Requests for training need to be forwarded to Ella McAllister through your Regional Leader/Supervisor.

If the training opportunity was 'announced' via the training calendar or an e-mail from the Training staff with a request for who is interested in attending, your interest in attending should be forwarded to your Regional Leader/Supervisor. Note: Regional Leaders, in these cases you can compile the names of those interested staff who have been approved to attend from your office and forward the list to Ella and cc: to Lillian.

If the training opportunity is one that you found out through another method, then the training request which is forwarded to your RL should include the following relevant data: The course name, date and time of the training, location, and cost. The request should also include a brief note (a sentence or two, don't make this very complicated) of how the training opportunity relates to your job. A copy of the information you have on the course (brochure/handout) should also be sent to Ella. If the training is coursework through a college/business school/university please see additional information below. Note: Regional Leaders, in these cases you can forward the approved training request to Ella and cc: to Lillian.

Registration forms: In either case, if a registration form is required the form should be completed and forwarded with the training request to Ella at Central Office ( 21 South Fruit Street, Suite #20 ) via mail, interoffice mail, or fax (271-7095).

Note of Deadlines: When registering for a training please keep in mind that it takes at least 2 weeks to get the payment processed. If you see a deadline on a registration that you would like to attend then check to see two things: 1). if the company will bill the agency then fax the registration (after approvals have been sought) and then send it on to Lillian to process the payment or, 2). if they are expecting payment with the registration form. If this is the case then you need to get it to Lil at least two weeks before the Registration deadline not the actual training date. We can not guarantee any registrations can be processed in a shorter time period.

Overnight stays: If you are planning on staying overnight and the training is taking place in NH then you need to fill out the Overnight Stay request at the same time as the registration and forward that to Lillian. Please read the form very carefully and make sure you have all of the required information on it. Note: In order for the agency to cover overnight accommodations, you need to be at least 50 miles from your work and/or home.

Out of State Travel: If the training will take place outside of New Hampshire, then an Out of State Travel Request form needs to be completed (in advance of the travel) and forwarded with the registration form to Lillian.

Please note: This form needs to be signed by your RL/supervisor.

Tuition/CSPD

Please note: Tuition has the additional requirement of needing G&C approval. In order to assure that your request for tuition assistance gets on the appropriate G&C calendar please forward the following information to Sharon DeAngelis (and cc: to Ella McAllister, Lillian Lee, and your RL/Supervisor if sent via e-mail): 1) name of institution; 2) course name(s)/description(s); 3) course dates; and cost. This information needs to be forwarded no later than 5-6 weeks prior to the course registration due date. You will be sent a tuition agreement after forwarding this information, this agreement needs to be signed and brought to or mailed to Sharon D. (a faxed copy isn't acceptable for the G&C process). Note: If you are in an approved course of study or a CSPD plan, each individual course does not need RL/supervisor approval, however, including your RL/supervisor in the communications allows for him/her to be aware of your progress. If this is a new course of study/new CSPD plan/ or just a course you plan on taking then RL/Supervisor approval is needed.

Training Calendar

The Training Calendar is located in Outlook under Calendars in the folders list. To get there you would click on calendar, then on file, open, and then choose training room calendar. If you would like to see if you have been approved to attend training, you can click on the training and it will list information about the training as well as approved attendees. You may get e-mail's from the Training Calendar announcing new training opportunities as they are posted. This system is a way for everyone to be notified of all new and up coming training so that you would not have to constantly have to look at the calendar to see what is on it. Please keep in mind that you still need to get your supervisors permission. Choosing the Accept option on the announcement e-mail does not automatically sign you up for the training. If you have any questions please contact Lillian.

New Counselor Training

Cheri Nixon (RCIII in the Portsmouth Regional office) has graciously accepted the task of coordinating the upcoming New Counselor training series. This series is required for all our new Counselors. Experienced Counselors are also welcome to attend, and if interested should request approval from their Regional Leader through the above process. Note: Regional Leaders if you have questions about an experienced counselor attending these sessions please let Cheri or me know.
